The Oscars: Our Favorite Looks from the Academy Awards

The 2019 Academy Awards red carpet was in full swing with knockout ensembles left and right. Celebrities made sure they did not disappoint for Hollywood’s biggest night in film.  Even though everyone dazzled, there are a few looks that stood out among the crowd.

This year the red carpet showcased quite a variety with Hollywood’s elite suited in everything from neutrals, black and white and sporadic pops of color. Regina King, who won the first award of the night for Best Supporting Actress in If Beale Street Could Talk, dawned a gorgeous white strapless gown which she paired with white stilettos. A thigh-high slit was also featured on the gown which added just the right amount of sex appeal.

Jennifer Lopez shined down the red carpet wearing a bold mirrored gown. Her beau, Alex “A-Rod” Rodriguez, showed out in a black and white tuxedo. Michael B. Jordan put his own spin on the classic tuxedo by pairing his with a velvet navy blue blazer and the best accessory of all, his mother.

Moreover, one-shouldered gowns made multiple cameos on the red carpet. Meagan Good stunned in a lavender, one-shouldered whimsical gown. Meanwhile, her husband, DeVon Franklin, decided to bear a charcoal gray tuxedo. Celebrities like Angela Bassett and Jennifer Hudson wowed in bright fun colors. Bassett’s fuchsia gown and Hudson’s red gown both added some much-needed color to the carpet.

Spike Lee, who finally took home his first Oscar win for Best Adapted Screenplay, also had fun with color while paying homage to the late great Prince. He rocked a purple suit and Prince’s famous symbol around his neck.

Of course, you can never go wrong with all black. Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper, the stars of the highly anticipated movie A Star Is Born, both opted to keep it simple. Gaga wore a strapless and structured black gown with accenting black leather gloves for added flair. She also dawned the most impressive statement piece of the evening, a priceless Tiffany yellow diamond reportedly valued at $30 million. On the other hand, Cooper kept it super clean with an effortless black tuxedo.
