3 Ways to Naturally Whiten Your Teeth at Home

Teeth discoloration is something majority of people struggle with on a daily basis. In 2017, Americans spent over $11 billion on teeth whitening, including over $1.3 billion on at-home whitening products; this includes companies that provide at-home teeth-whitening kits. Sure, there are plenty of products to choose from that may be easy and seem as if you’ll get results in a week. However, most teeth-whitening products use chemicals that bleaches your teeth & will ultimately cause more damage to your teeth in the long run.

Fortunately, there are safe, effective, and natural ways to whiten your teeth right from the comfort of your own home. Here is a list of three natural ways to safely whiten your teeth.

Brushing with Baking soda

We’ve all seen baking soda listed as one of the ingredients in all commercial toothpaste. This is because baking soda is a mild abrasive that can help scrub away surface stains on teeth. Now, you won’t see results overnight. As with all of these at-home remedies, they take time. If you are consistent with brushing your teeth two or more times a day with a sprinkle of baking soda and water, you will gradually see your teeth become whiter. Additionally, baking soda creates an alkaline environment in your mouth which prevents bacteria from growing. Again, remain consistent and those tough stains will be gone in no time!

Apple Cider Vinegar

ACV has been trending on the ‘natural radar’ for quite some time now. It’s been used for decades as a disinfectant and natural cleaning product. The acetic acid, which is the main ingredient in ACV, effectively kills bacteria. The vinegar is what cleans the mouth, overall, and whitens your teeth. However, overuse of the apple cider vinegar can erode the enamel on your teeth, making it extremely brittle, so its recommended to use this at-home remedy three or four times a week.

Strawberries or other healthy foods

Rumor has it that strawberries may also help whiten your teeth? Strawberries contains many beneficial antioxidants that can benefit the overall health & longevity of your teeth. This berries trend started a couple of years ago when Tyra Banks smashed a few strawberries and rubbed them all over her teeth. She then rinsed off the berries and showed us her fantastic results.

With all of that said, it is important to begin any of these at-home remedies at a slow pace. Do not just stop using your toothpaste and jump right into, let’s say, the apple cider vinegar trick. Remember, your teeth are extremely sensitive and needs time and consistency to show the results you’re aiming for.
