6 Things That You Should Always Make Time For

Life is a whirlwind, especially in the day and age we are currently in. It seems as if though everyone is moving at super speed and time just never, ever slows down. In such a busy world, it can be easy to get flustered and/or busy and forget the things that are most important to you such as taking care of yourself, spending time with friends and family, and even keeping up with your health.

 

Trust me, I get it. But, there are a few things in life that you need to always make time for, to ensure that you are growing and getting better and happier in life. The things that you need to always make time for will probably vary from person to person, but today, I want to share with you 6 things that you should always make time for (in my opinion). I hope this list will help those that are stressed out from this constant ‘go, go, go’ lifestyle that we live and will encourage you to stop, take a breath, and focus on yourself and your needs, instead. Here is my list:

 

Self-Care

So many people put self-care on the back burner because there are “more important things to get done.” While I definitely understand that deadlines need to be met, I also think that if we neglect ourselves, we will run ourselves down to the point where the deadlines that we are working so hard to meet will not get done properly, efficiently, and sometimes at all.

 

When I talk about self-care, I am talking about getting rest, eating healthy dishes, drinking enough water, sleeping enough, taking bubble baths (if that relaxes you), maybe getting a massage, or a pedicure, and just all-around doing things that make you feel good and relaxed. Forbes says, “Self-care is important to maintain a healthy relationship with yourself as it produces positive feelings and boosts your confidence and self-esteem. Also, self-care is necessary to remind yourself and others that you and your needs are important too.”

 

Friends and Family

Spending time with the ones you care about is very important to your overall well-being because it fosters a sense of community. You know the saying, “it takes a village,” right? Well, this is not just about kids anymore. While yes, it does take a village to raise kids, it also takes a village to run your life. Neighbors, family, and friends are constantly there for you when you are down, are there when you have something to celebrate, and help make your life happier and more vibrant. If there is anything you definitely want to focus on weekly, it is making sure that you keep your relationships strong.

 

Your Health

I know how easy it is to put your health on the backburner, just like your self-care, but please take my advice when I tell you that you need to go to your dental and doctor appointments and please do not just go to one. Fitness

Working out promotes losing weight, staying in shape, healthy eating, happiness, and so many other benefits. I could go on and on about why everyone should be fitting some kind of exercise into their day – it can even be a walk around your neighborhood, or mall. A lot of companies now have treadmill desks and stand up desks, promoting fitness and a healthy living lifestyle, which I think is so great and definitely a step in the right direction.

 

Volunteer Work

While not absolutely essential to your body and health, I do think that the joy and feeling of volunteering is very beneficial. Some of the benefits that you could gain from volunteering are feeling needed, sharing a skill, getting to know a community of people, having an impact, helping others, doing your civic duty, and more.

 

Your Passions

Losing your passions is very easy to do because not many people will actively celebrate your passions compared to celebrating a work success. No matter what you are passionate about, make sure you fit in time for these things because your mental and overall health will greatly benefit from it!
